Faith Confession IV

II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

According to Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6, when we received the Spirit of adoption, we received into our hearts the Spirit of his Son crying Abba, Father.  Hebrews 2:14-15 tells us that Jesus has delivered us from the fear of death that has kept us subject to bondage.  The spirit of fear does not come from God.  It comes from the devil as his evil desire is to keep us in bondage through fear.  God desires for us to receive freedom from fear through the deliverance that Jesus has provided and live free from the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:1-2)

God has given us the Spirit of power to do his will in the earth.  Jesus told his disciples that he would send the promise of the Father upon them.  They were to wait in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high. (Luke 24:49)  With this power of the Holy Ghost coming upon them, they were to be witnesses unto Jesus preaching repentance and remission of sins among all nations beginning at Jerusalem. (Acts 1:8)  The disciples were endued with Holy Ghost power which enabled them to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and then demonstrate the word with signs and wonders.  Mark 16:15-20 is Jesus’ command to the disciples and to us to go into all the world endued with power preaching everywhere, the Lord working with and confirming the word with signs following.

We then are to manifest the fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-23) God is love.  Love is the fruit which all others are manifested from.  Fear is not listed as a fruit of the Spirit because there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. (I John 4:18)  We know and believe the love God manifested toward us because he sent his Son to redeem us from the bondage of Satan.  Whosoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he dwells in God.  (I John 4:11-16)  We cannot pretend to love God while knowingly yielding to and serving Satan in the bondage of fear.  The Lord knows them that are his.  Let all those who name the name of Christ depart from iniquity. (II Timothy 2:19)

God has given us the mind of Christ, therefore we have a sound mind. (I Corinthians 2:16)  We must maintain the sound mind that God has given us.  In Ephesians 2:22-24 Paul says to put off the old man with the old lifestyle.  Be renewed in the spirit of your mind and put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.  We maintain our sound mind by not being anxious or in fear about anything, but by prayer and supplication we let our requests be made known unto God and the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  Think on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report.  If there be any virtue and any praise, think on these things.  In Philippians 4:9 Paul says, Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:6-9)  Paul tells us in Philippians 2:2 Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Make It Personal:

God has not given me the spirit of fear.  He has given me the spirit of power and the spirit of love and the spirit of a sound mind.
